What are cookies?

Cookies are files that can be downloaded onto your device through websites. They are tools that play an essential role in providing numerous information society services.   • Persistent cookies: the data remains stored in the terminal and can be accessed and processed during a period defined by the party responsible for the cookie, which can range from a few minutes to several years.

Finally, there is another classification based on the purpose for which the data obtained is processed:

  • Technical cookies: those that allow the user to navigate through a website, platform or application and to use the different options or services available on it, such as, for example, controlling traffic and data communication, identifying the session, accessing restricted-access areas, remembering the items that make up an order, carrying out the purchase process of an order, submitting a registration or participation request for an event, using security features during navigation, storing content for the streaming of video or audio, or sharing content through social networks.

  • Personalisation cookies: those that allow the user to access the service with some general characteristics predefined according to a series of criteria on the user's terminal, such as the language, the type of browser through which the service is accessed, the regional configuration from which the service is accessed, etc.

  • Analytics cookies: those that allow the party responsible for them to monitor and analyse the behaviour of users of the websites to which they are linked. The information collected through this type of cookie is used to measure the activity of websites, applications or platforms and to build browsing profiles of the users of those sites, applications and platforms, in order to introduce improvements based on the analysis of the usage data of the service's users.

  • Advertising cookies: those that allow the management, in the most efficient way possible, of advertising spaces.

  • Behavioural advertising cookies: those that store information on users' behaviour obtained through the continuous observation of their browsing habits, which makes it possible to develop a specific profile in order to display advertising based on it.

  • External social network cookies: used so that visitors can interact with the content of different social platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) and that are generated only for users of those social networks. The terms of use of these cookies and the information collected are governed by the privacy policy of the corresponding social platform.
